Donor PRIVACY POLICY

Phi Mu Foundation (“Foundation”) is committed to respecting the privacy of our donors. We provide this Donor Privacy Policy to make you aware of our privacy policy and to inform you of the way your information is used.

Information Collected. The Foundation collects and stores personal information from individuals who donate to Foundation (donors), such as name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. We collect and store donation records by each donor. We also collect payment information, billing address, and other information necessary to process a donation or event registration.

Use and Disclosure of Information

 

Foundation will never:

    • Sell, trade, rent or share personal information with anyone else other than the Fraternity, except as provided below or required by law.
    • Send you mailings on behalf of other organizations other than the Fraternity.

      Foundation will use your information to:

    • Distribute donation acknowledgements and receipts and inform you of upcoming fundraising activities and other Foundation-related activities. Vendors may be engaged by the Foundation to perform a variety of functions, such as assisting with donation collection, assisting with mailings, providing technical services for our Internet sites, etc. Such vendors may have access to personal information if needed to perform certain functions. However, these vendors may use such personal information only for the purpose of performing that function and may not use it for any other purpose.
    • Comply with the law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to conform to the requirements of law or comply with legal process served on us, protect and defend our rights or act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of others.

      Protect against potential fraud. We may verify with third parties the information collected in the course of processing a gift, event registration or other donation. If you use a credit or debit card on the website, we may use card authorization and fraud screening services to verify that your card information and address matches the information that you supplied to us and that the card being used has not been reported lost or stolen.

      Cookies. “Cookies” are pieces of information that an Internet site transfers to an individual’s hard drive for record-keeping purposes. Cookies allow a certain Internet site to remember important information that will make your use of the site more convenient. Like most Internet sites, the Foundation uses cookies for a variety of purposes in order to improve your online experience. For example, we track the total number of visitors to our site on an anonymous, aggregate basis. We may also employ cookies so that we remember you when you return to the site. We may associate personal information with a cookie file in that instance.

Removing Your Name From Our Mailing List. It is our desire to not send unwanted mail to our donors. Please contact us if you wish to be removed from our mailing list. Please allow up to two weeks for complete removal from our mailing list.

Changes to the Privacy Policy. We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will note the last update at the bottom of this Privacy Policy. For changes to this policy that may be materially less restrictive on our use or disclosure of your personally identifiable information, we will obtain your consent before implementing the change by sending a notice to your primary email address and home address specified in our records and by placing a prominent notice on our website.
