Twenty Years of Answering the Call

Phi Mu Foundation celebrates 20 years of the Annual Fund campaign, Phonathon!

Join Phi Mu Foundation in this celebration of the longest sponsored campaign by answering the call and giving to Phonathon. On February 7-9, sisters from Theta Epsilon Chapter at Kennesaw State University will partner with Phi Mu Foundation to raise $40,000 in unrestricted gifts in just three days! Over 8,000 Phi Mu sisters will receive a call from a Theta Epsilon sister seeking a tax-deductible contribution to Phi Mu Foundation.

If you see a call from a 404, 770 or 678 area code, please answer the call from Phi Mu National Headquarters! There will be a Theta Epsilon sister on the other line ready to take your contribution information and to say “thank you” for your support of our sisterhood.

To ensure you receive a call during Phonathon, please send your contact information and preferred day and time to Kristin Tofanelli, Director of Development, at ktofanelli@phimu.org.

National Philanthropy Day

On October 20, 2014, Phi Mu Fraternity will celebrate the 15th annual National Philanthropy Day! In 1999, Phi Mu was proud to be the first NPC group to establish a National Philanthropy Day. Phi Mu created National Philanthropy Day to encourage undergraduate and alumnae members to give of their time and inspire members to live the first line of the Creed, “to lend to those less fortunate a helping hand.”

Each year on this day, Phi Mus across the country gather to engage in hands-on service while making a positive impact on their local community.

Phi Mu collegiate and alumnae chapters are invited to join hands and serve your communities. Together, we can make a difference and positively impact the lives of our communities and campuses in just one day! This is also a great opportunity for others to observe some of the ways Phi Mus give back not just on this day, but throughout the year.

For those collegiate and alumnae members participating in National Philanthropy Day, visit the Phi Mu’s Leadership Center to access a packet complete with resource materials to help you start planning your chapter’s service project.

Board of Trustee Appointment

Phi Mu Foundation Board of Trustees recently accepted the resignation of Becky McKenzie, Epsilon Gamma, as Foundation Trustee, effective September 2014.

“We are thankful for Becky’s leadership and service as a Trustee, specifically her direct efforts to strengthen Phi Mu Foundation’s partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH),” said Phi Mu Foundation President Diane Eggert, Zeta Iota. “As Vice President of Philanthropy for the past six years, Becky saw annual donations to CMNH from collegiate and alumnae chapters increase to over $1 million annually. Her expertise will be missed.”

In accordance to the Phi Mu Foundation Constitution and Bylaws, the Board of Trustees is charged to appoint a person to fill the vacant seat of Trustee. The Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Pamela Ferguson-Gaines, Epsilon Alpha, as Foundation Trustee. Pamela has been a loyal member of the Carnation Club Giving Program, serving as chair for the 2012-2014 Biennium. She is also a dedicated volunteer to Phi Mu Fraternity and has served in many roles, most recently Area Membership Director.

Diane states, “Pamela brings a variety of skills to the Foundation Board of Trustees, but above that, Pamela brings a love for the Phi Mu experience and a dedication to Phi Mu Foundation.”

Join Phi Mu Foundation Board of Trustees and staff in thanking Becky McKenzie for her years of service to the Foundation. Additionally, please welcome Pamela Ferguson-Gaines to the Board of Trustees.
