LeadershipThrough the generous support of our sisters, Phi Mu Foundation funds the development of cutting-edge leadership programming for undergraduate and alumnae members. Following are descriptions of some of the recent initiatives funded by the Foundation.
![]() Online Leadership CenterWhat if chapter officers, as they finished their terms, no longer had to hand off a “milk crate” full of files to the incoming officer? What if all pertinent forms, training materials, leadership/chapter development programs and key Headquarters information were available online, in one custom-designed location? That was the goal of Phi Mu’s National Council when they approached the Foundation for a $25,000 technology grant to fund the development of the Online Leadership Center and supporting leadership programs. The website improves the usefulness of officer training materials, personalizes the training by officer type and includes various types of media such as PowerPoint presentations, videos and podcasts.
Phi Mu Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (UIFI)Phi Mu Fraternity partnered with the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), to provide the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (UIFI), a premier leadership development experience, to undergraduate Phi Mu members. The Foundation helps fund the program as well as awards individual chapter grants to support the attendance of emerging Phi Mu leaders from each collegiate chapter. The program offers Phi Mu members the opportunity to explore, define, and enhance their leadership skills, personal awareness, commitment to Phi Mu, and grow to expect values-based action from themselves and those they lead.
Chapter Consultant ProgramChapter consultants provide critical, front-line Fraternity support to the ongoing operations of collegiate chapters. Consultants travel to collegiate chapters nationwide to educate and train chapter officers and advisers in the areas of marketing and membership building, general operations, management, interpersonal skills, leadership, member interaction, motivation, crisis intervention and risk management.
Phi Mu IMPACTPhi Mu IMPACT is a program of the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) that is held two days prior to National Convention. A grant funded by the Foundation helps support the attendance of two members from each collegiate chapter. Phi Mu IMPACT is an institute that helps collegians recognize the current realities of their chapter and develops strategies for positive change. The program includes experiential activities, interactive discussion, and both large and small group sessions.
National and Area Officers' TrainingPhi Mu Foundation is committed to the development of alumnae volunteers as well as collegians in the area of leadership and life skills. Through annual grants, the Foundation assists the Fraternity in funding an annual retreat for National and Area Officers focused on training, idea sharing and goal setting.
Adviser and House Corporation ForumThrough a specific grant, the Foundation helps fund a forum specific to the needs of chapter advisers and house corporation officers. Since the summer of 2011, chapter house corporation officers have joined chapter advisers at Headquarters to gain resources and training specific to their volunteer roles.
SpeakersPhi Mu Foundation funding provides Phi Mu the ability to bring in professional speakers for conferences and conventions, giving our women the opportunity to learn directly from the best and the brightest.
